This is a story about the friendship between Brown Troll and Lantern.

You might hear a lot about mountain trolls — huge and gray, like stones, and born from them— but there are, although they are rarely spoken of, forest trolls. They are small, no more than half a meter in height, round, and covered with bark, like short round trees.

Brown Troll was born in an oak forest and lived there, deep in the woods where people dared not to come, under the Mother's oak.
